Description
This corner between the Simonis metro station and the KUB used to house the Mieke Stella café. In 1996, however, a new chapter in its history began. The first part of the building is still a traditional café, where you are welcomed by the bartenders and dogs. Besides old adverts for beer, the walls are adorned with profundities such as that it is better to live richly than to die rich. In our opinion, the Maes pils tastes better here than elsewhere. Going through the first door, you enter the restaurant where the owner is at work. Pol Baudaux, who is from the Ardennes (in fact, he brought a few big bottles of the Trappist beer from Chimay, his hometown), worked at the Anderlecht slaughterhouses for many years, but also knows how to prepare his meat.
